The CIFAS Civil Dispute Framework

The process behind every package

CIFAS marker removal is not a single letter. It is a staged dispute built around evidence, category accuracy, lawful basis, and escalation, with a clear timeline at each stage.

Free

Case assessment

We collect your data from the issuer and review the marker category, the evidence, and whether the filing can be challenged before any complaint is built.

Up to 8 weeks

Complaint to the issuer

We prepare a formal complaint that tests the issuer's evidence, lawful basis, category choice, data accuracy, and proportionality, then submit it for a final response.

Around 4 weeks

Escalation to CIFAS

If the issuer refuses removal, we escalate to CIFAS for an independent review of the filing against the evidence and the CIFAS rules.

6 to 8 weeks

Financial Ombudsman

If the marker still stands, we prepare the Financial Ombudsman referral for a thorough, independent, and binding final decision.

CIFAS removal cost FAQ

Questions about CIFAS removal cost

How much does it cost to remove a CIFAS marker?+

CIFAS marker removal starts from £500. There are three fixed-fee packages: the Documents Package at £500, the Representation Package at £1,000, and Fast Track Support at £1,500. The price depends on how much of the complaint process you want us to handle. Any compensation awarded is paid directly to you, we take nothing.

Which CIFAS removal package is right for me?+

If you are comfortable handling correspondence and want professionally prepared documents, the Documents Package at £500 is the right fit. If you want us to manage the complaint from start to finish, the Representation Package at £1,000 suits most people and includes the No Win, No Fee guarantee. If your case is urgent, Fast Track Support at £1,500 gives priority handling and court documents where needed.

Does every package include No Win, No Fee?+

No. The Documents Package does not include a No Win, No Fee guarantee because you remain responsible for parts of the complaint process after the documents are prepared. The Representation Package and Fast Track Support both include the No Win, No Fee guarantee.

If I have multiple CIFAS markers, how much would the cost be?+

It depends on whether the markers relate to the same issuer and the same underlying facts. Where multiple markers arise from one issuer and one connected dispute, they may be handled together. Where they relate to different issuers, products, or allegations, the cost is usually per marker because each filing needs its own evidence review, complaint, and escalation route.

Are your CIFAS removal packages refundable?+

No. All packages are non-refundable once purchased. The work begins at the point of purchase, document generation, case preparation, and drafting commence immediately. The fee reflects the service delivered, not the outcome achieved.

What happens if the marker is not removed?+

On the Representation Package and Fast Track Support, our No Win, No Fee guarantee applies. More broadly, removal depends on the facts of your case, the evidence available, the category of marker, and the decisions made by the issuer, CIFAS, the Financial Ombudsman Service, or a court. No service can represent that removal is certain.

Can I upgrade between packages?+

Yes. If you start with the Documents Package and decide you want us to take over the complaint, you can upgrade to the Representation Package. Contact us and we will advise on next steps based on where your case currently stands.

What if my complaint has already been rejected by the Financial Ombudsman?+

If the standard complaint process has already been exhausted, court-focused support is assessed and priced separately rather than as a standard package. Contact us with where your case stands and we will quote for the work required.
