Three routes to removal
Challenging a CIFAS marker can be done yourself, with a specialist service, or through a solicitor. The right approach depends on the strength of your case, how quickly you need a resolution, and how much support you want through the process.
We offer CIFAS marker removal packages for different levels of support, from fast documents through to representation and court order preparation.

Cifas Documents, £149.99 per month
This package gives you complaint documents in 10 minutes, automated case handling and progression, weekly group expert calls with Leo, client WhatsApp, and GPT support. You manage and submit the documents yourself.
This is the right choice if you are comfortable managing correspondence and escalation on your own and want professional documents to do so with. The subscription continues monthly until cancelled.

Cifas Representation, £1,500 one off fee
This package covers the full complaint process managed on your behalf. We prepare all documentation, arrange a one to one case meeting, submit and manage the complaint to the issuer, and escalate to CIFAS and the Financial Ombudsman Service where the issuer refuses removal.
This is the right choice for most people. It removes the burden of managing a complex legal process while keeping costs well below a solicitor.

Cifas Court Order, £5,000 one off fee
This package covers cases where complaint and regulatory escalation have not achieved removal, or where the harm requires direct legal intervention. We prepare the section 167 DPA 2018 court order application, the Letter of Claim, and provide full support through the court process.
In many cases, markers are removed following the Letter of Claim before any proceedings are issued. This package is also appropriate where the harm is urgent and serious enough to justify parallel or early legal action.

Solicitor comparison
A solicitor will typically charge between £2,000 and £5,000 or more depending on the complexity and how many stages the case reaches. Most solicitors do not specialise in CIFAS markers specifically, and hourly billing means escalation and ongoing correspondence generate additional costs.
Our packages are fixed fees, not hourly rates. The Cifas Court Order package covers the full court process at a fixed cost rather than an unpredictable bill that grows with each letter.

DIY approach
Doing it yourself costs nothing but time and carries significant risk of failure. Published Financial Ombudsman data shows that the majority of complaints are not upheld. Most fail not because the grounds are weak but because of poor complaint preparation: no legal framework, no data protection arguments, no evidence structure.
If you have the legal knowledge and time to draft structured arguments covering CIFAS Principles, UK GDPR obligations, and the Standard of Proof, the DIY route is possible. Most people do not.
Which package is right for you?
Not sure where to start? Read the package comparison page or start document preparation. The right route depends on your marker type, issuer, complaint stage, and available evidence.
